About Us

Meet the Team

A dedicated team of thoughtful, experienced and caring dentists, supporting all ages from children to great grandparents.

All our dentists have shown strong commitment to lifelong learning through their careers, long before this was a Dental Board requirement.

Dr Chris Callahan
BA BDSc FRACDS FADI FICD FPFA

Chris studied Dentistry at Melbourne University. After graduation he was Resident Dental Officer at the Alfred Hospital and then entered general practice in several locations, including Moorabbin, Kew and Coburg.

He began practice at Malvern Village Dental in 1990.

Since 2002, Chris is a visiting consultant at the Alfred Hospital. He has particular interest in removable prosthodontics, dental materials and special needs dentistry.

Chris enjoys treating families, whether children, parents, grandparents or occasionally great grandparents. Each generation can support the family experience of dentistry, and Chris finds the privilege of being an “extended family member” one of the most rewarding parts of practice.

His other service to the dental community has included Victorian Presidency of the Australian Dental Association, membership of the RACDS Council, and work for the Dental Practice Board of Victoria.

Outside of practice, he enjoys food, wine, music, long walks and swimming.

Dr Hayden Tan
BDSc (Hons) UQ

Hayden studied Dentistry at The University of Queensland. After Graduation he was Resident Dental Officer at the Alfred Hospital and continues to contribute to the Unit.

Hayden enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is most happy when he is able to bring a smile to anyone who comes into the practice. He has particular interest in special needs dentistry. His goal is to create a comfortable and relaxed environment, ensuring that every patient feels at ease during their visit.

Hayden maintains a patient-centred approach, where open communication and personalised care are at the forefront, collaborating with patients to achieve a healthy happy smile.

A keen squash player since the age of 12, the community spirit of squash, friendly training sessions and a good dash of competitiveness have instilled a drive to do better in all things.

If not on a court hitting a rubber ball, you’ll find Hayden at farmer’s markets, going on hikes, chasing sunrises or watching anime.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all. Reopening January 6th
